Publication Date:Īmazon Link | LibroFM Bookstore Link My Review: ![]() And at the same time, it paints a portrait of his victims and a vibrant community navigating threat and resilience. This gripping true-crime narrative tells the story of the Last Call Killer and the decades-long chase to find him. ![]() Yet because of the sexuality of his victims, the sky-high murder rates, and the AIDS epidemic, his murders have been almost entirely forgotten. The Last Call Killer preyed upon gay men in New York in the ‘80s and ‘90s and had all the hallmarks of the most notorious serial killers. But that’s what he is, and tonight, he has his sights set on a gray-haired man. ![]() Not at all what you think a serial killer looks like. The man strikes the piano player as forgettable. The Townhouse Bar, midtown, July 1992: The piano player seems to know every song ever written, the crowd belts out the lyrics to their favorites, and a man standing nearby is drinking a Scotch and water. The gripping true story, told here for the first time, of the Last Call Killer and the gay community of New York City that he preyed upon. ![]()

"Remember, my dear, you do not really and truly exist." "This magical story-and the brave girl in its pages-will haunt you in the best way." -Natalie Lloyd, New York Times bestselling author of Over the Moon A spooky and adventurous fantasy debut about a girl made of dust and bone and imagination who seeks the truth about the magic that brought her to life. ![]() ![]() Then the disgusting talk about developments in the nearby (much more developed and equipped) white school and the statement how white people will study STEM whilst Black people will do well in sports so that all little heads which were otherwise proud to graduate went down on their chest in sadness and destruction of dreams or hope that things will be better. ![]() What was striking for me the most was the audacity of white people (or white folks as Angelou reports her Black community was calling them) in deliberately not showing respect and calling Black women Ms as they would with a white woman and coming to a graduation ceremony and just taking a seat leaving a Black school official without a seat to seat on. If you ever wondered why the Black Lives Matter movement is kicking off, this book will tell you why. As part of the #WECAN project’s book club, our next book to discuss is Maya Angelou’s famous book ‘I know why the caged bird sings’, which I heard about but never read. ![]() 5/22/2023 0 Comments Author of lucky jim![]() ![]() This is the story of Jim Dixon, a hapless lecturer in medieval history at a provincial university who knows better than most that “there was no end to the ways in which nice things are nicer than nasty ones.” Amis’s scabrous debut leads the reader through a gallery of emphatically English bores, cranks, frauds, and neurotics, with each of whom Dixon must contend in one way or another in order to hold on to his cushy academic perch and win the girl of his fancy. ![]() Regarded by many as the finest, and funniest, comic novel of the twentieth century, Lucky Jim remains as trenchant, withering, and eloquently misanthropic as when it first scandalized readers in 1954. A hilarious satire about college life and high class manners, this is a classic of postwar English literature. ![]() 5/22/2023 0 Comments Almost Matched by A.O. There are hardly any dull moments in the story and even if one keeps it aside for a momentary break, the tale doesn't let you feel at peace unless you complete it. The best part about the book is its tight script and excellent narration of author. After lots of twists and turns and quite a few unexpected folding of events ,the story reaches its climax which is brilliant to say the least as I never saw it coming. Gradually the readers realise that the roots of murder are quite deep and it has a lot to do with the family's past. What seems like a natural death at first ,soon turns reeking of murderous intents especially due to the strange phone call Suhana received on the party night. After her spectacular debut ,her father throws a party but he is mysteriously found dead the following day. ![]() Suhana is the new sensation in the singing world. After hearing a lot about this book from my friends and on their strong recommendation I decided to pick this one and I am really glad that I did as it actually fulfilled my expectations. Still I am often asked about my favourite genre and if I have to single out one, psychological thrillers will certainly top the list. I have been an avid reader of books of all kinds and equally appreciate both fictional and non fictional novels. ![]() 5/22/2023 0 Comments He Mele A Hilo by Ryka Aoki![]() ![]() ![]() Shizuka doesn't have time for crushes or coffee dates, what with her very soul on the line, but Lan's kind smile and eyes like stars might just redefine a soul's worth.
